This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines. This unit applies to all workers who may be required to provide CPR in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.
Upon successful completion of the course you will receive a Statement of Attainment with the unit of competency HLTAID001 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation.
Complete the Resuscitation Online (e- learning) program and then attend the 1 hour Assessment Session.
Face to Face
The face to face course allows the candidates to cover the resuscitation topics and assessments in approximately 2 hours.
Approximately 1 – 2 hour face to face assessment session, depending on the delivery mode.
All candidates are required to successfully complete a range of practical assessments. A candidate must perform at least two minutes of uninterrupted CPR on an infant and an adult resuscitation manikin placed on the floor.
This course also requires practical application of Resuscitation and other practical scenarios that will require kneeling on the floor.
In order to achieve a Statement of Attainment, candidates must successfully complete the practical components under the award conditions.
A multiple choice theory assessment may also be completed.

It is essential that the pre learning is completed prior to the face to face assessment session.
The Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation unit is valid for 12 months in accordance with the Australian Resuscitation Guidelines.
